Youth Volunteer Recruitment Fair

Join us for this fun event after school on September 21, 2017 from 4:00-6:00pm at City Centre Community Centre (5900 Minoru Blvd). Check out volunteer opportunities for high school students available through City Centre. Registration is not required – just come drop by!

Opportunities you will learn about include:

  • Homework Club – Be a positive mentor for students in grades 4 to 7. This is an after school program that runs at Anderson, Cook and General Currie Elementary School. Youth volunteers will be helping students with their homework and also engaging in fun games and activities at one of these schools on one of these program days
  • Leadership – This program has 5 different youth leadership teams that meet weekly at City Centre to plan and create community service projects and initiatives. Volunteers have the chance to learn and develop leadership, teamwork and project planning skills, also getting to know other youth in the community while also having fun and purposeful volunteering!
  • 55+ Programs – Support seniors by volunteering with weekend opportunities at City Centre. One option is our 55+ Technology Help Program on Saturdays, where youth teach seniors how to use their tablets, smartphones, cameras, and computers at weekly sessions. Another is our English Conversation Group on Sundays, to help seniors practice common English phrases and sentences through group conversations and activities
  • Special Events – Looking to volunteer for fun, one time events? We are recruiting volunteers for fall events such as Harvest Full Moon Celebration, Halloween Movie Night, City Centre Winter Carnival, and more. Volunteers help with tasks such as set up and clean up, decorating, hosting activities, hosting an information booth about City Centre, and more
